Chelsea Sorrell, who forgets the words during her final performance, next up on “American Idol.” Judges mess around with her for a bit, but tell her she’s in the top 24. “Stay consistent,” says Randy Jackson as she hugs everyone.

Including her fellow country singer and pal Baylie Brown, who’s up next; she’s the one who auditioned five years ago, too, when she was 16. I like her, has the complete package — looks, voice, niceness.

Steven Tyler tells her she’s through; she’s calm about it, appreciative but not crazy.

And then is like, “This is really weird — I’m in the top 24!”

‘American Idol’ made some shocking cuts last night, February 22nd, as they revealed some of the Top 24 Finalists who will compete for America’s votes next week. Early favorites like Neco Starr and Lauren Gray went home deflated. But 14 other hopefuls continue on their quest to make their dreams come true.

Randy Jackson appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday and defended his remarks about last season’s ‘The Voice’ winner being a failed industry person who got a second chance. Jackson clarified his comment to stress that ‘American Idol’ searches for and finds the best ‘undiscovered’ talent. And, he meant no disrespect to his professed good friend Adam Levine or ‘The Voice’.

Ironically, 2 of the ‘American Idol’ Top 24 Season 11 Finalists are getting a second chance of their own.

Baylie Brown, 22, is from Krum, Texas. She auditioned for ‘American Idol’ 5 years ago, and was cut in the group round after forgetting her words. During this season’s audition, Randy Jackson noted her improvement, saying ‘you got significantly better’, and she earned her second trip to Hollywood.

Girl with ties to Olney is one of 24 left to compete in American Idol

Baylie Brown, 22, of Krum spent much of her childhood in Olney. She is the daughter of Lynn Dale Hughes Brown, formerly of Olney, and Ben Brown and the granddaughter of Margaret and Eddie Joe Hughes also formerly of Olney. Much of Baylie’s extended family still lives in Olney.
Her cousin Julie Hinson said Baylie has been on the path to stardom nearly her whole life. She began singing at 3 years old and gave her first public performance at age 6. She started singing for family, then in church and nursing homes and then went on to sing in various opries. She’s also a favorite at the Olney One-Arm Dove Hunt.
Baylie auditioned in Houston and made it through numerous rounds to land herself back in the Hollywood round. She then sang her way through the grueling Hollywood Week, and earned a trip to the Las Vegas round. There she became one of forty-two singers in the “Sing for Your Life” round.
“She persevered and won the judges over with her sweet charm and amazing talent,” said Hinson.
Now, she is one of 24 remaining contestants — 12 men and 12 women vying to continue in the competition. The guys performed Tuesday, Feb. 28 with votes cast that evening and gals will perform Wednesday evening with voting to begin after the show and continuing for two hours. On Thursday, the results will be revealed. There are three ways to vote — by text, toll-free call or Facebook. Voting is unlimited by text or toll-free call with a 50 vote limit online. The phone numbers and text message numbers will be announced at the end of the show.

American Idol 11 (2012) Baylie Brown Spoilers and Predictions

According to spoiler site TheIdolPad, Baylie Brown has made the Top 42 for the 11th season of American Idol. She was presented as a country singer in Season 6, a year in which Baylie was a prominent auditioner at the age of 16. She was cut in the group round and has come back five years later to make another Idol run. This time around, look for Baylie to easily make the voting rounds unless she has another lyrics meltdown like in Season 6.

The first time around, Brown seemed very popular from the start. And then things took a 180-degree turn during the group round. She was teamed up with Antonella Barba and her friend Amanda Coluccio. Baylie’s youth showed, and she essentially blamed the other two for flirting with guys and such. The truth is none of that made Baylie forget ALL of the lyrics. She simply was not ready and appeared to have mastered one song at the time.

While it remains to be seen how well she will fare this time, I would expect Bailey to easily make it to the voting rounds if the spoilers are correct that she made the Top 42. Otherwise, there would probably be no strong reason to keep her around that long unless the producers think they can get another meltdown. Thus, the odds are that Bailey will make it.

There was a short clip of her audition for American Idol 11, where she sang Bon Jovi’s “Bed of Roses.” At least she is singing a different song now. You can see that clip below. It is too short to make a talent assessment, though. We will just have to wait and see how it plays out when the audition episodes air.

Will Bailey Win American Idol?

My prediction is she has virtually no chance of winning if her personality and talent level anything like they were 5 years ago. Brown is sort of like Kelly Pickler. She seems aloof and unintelligent. Does that mean she has no talent? Of course not. Does that mean she is not commercially viable? Of course not. But we are not talking Lauren Alaina talent here. Bailey is the exact type of contestant that is always overrated talent wise because the show thinks she is good for ratings. She gives off an air of wanting to be a star, not so much a serious musician. Could I be wrong? Of course, but this is a combination of a talent contest and popularity. Some voters would vote for her simply because she is drop-dead gorgeous. But she won’t get many voters who are actually voting on talent unless she has improved dramatically over 5 years.

In conclusion, Bailey Brown has a strong chance of making the voting rounds for American Idol 11. She also has a decent chance of making the Top 12. After that, she will have a tough time winning American Idol unless she has improved her talent level to a large degree.

Baylie Brown auditioned in season 6, but was cut after a poor group performance with Antonella Barba. Baylie was previously signed with Universal South, although she was dropped before releasing any music. She has been working on The Singing Bee as one of the background singers, which airs on CMT. Baylie has a great look, and a decent voice. I think this season there will be some country representation, but no one who will be a real contender for the win. I could see Baylie finishing around the middle of the top 12, which I think is as far as Nigel will want any country artists to go.
